Who Am I?

My name is David Smith.  I have been an educator for over seven years and prior to that I specialized in technology management for several large corporations.  My wife and I have five wonderful children in college, high school, middle school, elementary school and pre-kindergarten.  I specialize in technology and she focuses on Special Education.  As we are both in the educational system, our professional and personal lives revolve heavily around the educational process.

My philosophy:
The following statement from Neil Noddings’ Education and Democracy in the 21st Century sums up my teaching philosophy.  “Good teaching, like good parenting, requires continuous effort, trusting relationships, and continuity of purpose – the purpose of caring, appreciating human connections, and ideas from historical, multicultural, and diverse perspective.”  By exhorting individual strengths and utilizing project based learning, all children have the opportunity to succeed at their highest level.
